Student Direct Stream(SDS):

Students applying to post-secondary Designated Learning Institution(DLI) are eligible for SDS, a study permit processing program. Only online applications are processed under SDS by IRCC(if all the requirements) are met within 45 calendar days. Whereas, all the paper applications will be processed under the regular study permit application.
Imp: You need to pay a total of 1-year program fees for college/university to be eligible for SDS.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Minimum IELTS score of 6 bands in each module for both Undergraduate and Post-graduate courses.
- Full Tuition fees for the first year has to be paid by the student.
- Guaranteed Investment of Certificate (GIC) of $10,000 is a must.
- Students' university or college must have a registered Designated Learning Institutions (DL) number.

Non-SDS:

Applications that are not eligible for SDS come as general applications under this category. Applications here take longer than SDS to get processed which is about 7 weeks.

- Students must have studied their education through a recognized Institute.
- GIC is optional
- Minimum of 6 bands in IELTS aren't required
